The mission of the La Colombe childcare service (SG) is to offer children (from 6 months to 5 years old) and their families with quality educational services in French where the child is at the center of their learning. The main objective is to allow each child to evolve as a unique individual in a warm, safe, healthy, rich and stimulating family environment, in the context of cultural, family and social traditions and practices. La Colombe wants to build good relationships between the home, the French-speaking community and the daycare service. The educational orientation is inspired by the early childhood curriculum of the province of Alberta
La Colombe aims to provide high-quality childcare services in French to Francophone and Francophile families in Alberta, as well as to English-speaking families who want their child to grow up learning a second language. Our educational vision contributes to the child’s development in their learning process within a healthy and secure environment. Our daycare believes that learning through play is an active, exploratory, creative, and expressive process linked to the child’s daily experiences. The holistic goals used in the educational framework are, well-being, play and playful spirit, communication and literacy, as well as diversity and social responsibility. Our pedagogy is a mechanism that inspires holistic goals and dispositions for learning in order to reflect on and interpret the children’s experiences, thus creating rich, flexible, and diverse planning. La Colombe childcare services supports the child by providing opportunities to help them develop as a capable and independent citizen, preparing them for a smooth transition to school.

We have over 15 years of expertise in the early learning sector, complemented by 12 years of operational experience running my own French daycare located at the heart of French-speaking organizations since 2012. Initially designed to accommodate 25 children , our daycare was expanded to accommodate 41 in 2016, and further growth required additional space by 2022. My main goal has always been to ensure that children feel cared for and safe, which has made it possible to care for more than 350 children throughout the existence of our establishment. Working closely with children presents both challenges and rewards; among the tears and laughter, countless unforgettable moments have enriched my journey.
